Licensing Game Mechanics

Several of our games run on original, patented core game mechanics. Watch how-to-play videos and play games to find a mechanic that appeals to you. Contact us for licensing details; we offer both royalty-based and flat-rate licensing.

Submission Guidelines

We are currently accepting proposals for original role-playing games, tabletop games, and card-based games. Before you send a query, please ask yourself: What have you faced in your life that tried to hold you back from being a game designer? Blue Forge Gaming was founded to serve game designers who are marginalized due to disability, age, race, economics, sexuality, or other limiting factor. If you have not been marginalized or limited, Blue Forge Gaming likely isn't a good fit for you.

If you are an author published by Blue Forge Press or another traditional publishing house, or a self-published author, who has created an original universe, you may want to create an Adventure Deck set in your original world. Adventure Decks are role-playing game/trading card game hybrids where every deck includes 30,000+ words of narrative--like an original novella in every deck. These playable adventures allow players to fully immerse themselves in your incredible world. Working with us, you would only be required to write the narrative. Creating your own artwork is optional; you can always work with one of our Adventure Deck illustrators at no charge.

If you are an author who wants to work with us to create an Adventure Deck based in your own original universe, use the Contact form to answer these three required questions:

1. Adventure Decks take players on a journey or mission in your original world where they get to play characters from your fictional universe. Tell us about your universe. (What is the genre and premise? How many books have you published in the universe? Tell us about the four characters you think players would want to play? What audience and ages does your fiction appeal to?)

2. We'll guide you through creating the narrative for your Adventure Deck. Do you also want to create your own artwork or would you rather work with one of our illustrators?

3. Tell us about yourself. What will it be like to work with you?

If you are a game designer who wants to propose an all-new, original game in any medium or genre we publish in, use the Contact form to answer these five required questions:

1. What genre is the game you're proposing? What games have you played in that genre?

2. Provide a summary of your game. What is the premise? How does gameplay unfold? What components are needed?

3. What audience and ages will your game appeal to?

4. We assume all game designers will write any flavor text, instructions, and narrative that their game needs but do you also want to create the artwork for your game or would you like to work with one of our illustrators?

5. Tell us about yourself. What will it be like to work with you?

Our Senior Editor reviews all queries and will respond with a decision within two work days.

Our Manufacturing

We manufacture games in limited production runs of a hundred units at a time. When a game sells out its first production run, we immediately produce another run. This gives designers the freedom to make small changes between editions. All games components are tailored, sorted and packed by hand.

All our games come with all dice needed to play. Whether a six-sided, twenty-sided, or another format, we source our dice in a variety of colors.

We do not produce games in cardboard or cardstock boxes. All our games come in hard cases in various styles that are water-resistant and won't rip or fade. Full color artwork for the front and back of every game case is affixed to the outside of the case or inserted inside (if the case is clear).

Examples of colorful plastic hard cases similar to pencil boxes and crayon cases.
